Marvel Studios Artist Shares Unused Spider-Man Design From ‘Captain America: Civil War’

Meinerding’s unused Spidey design was posted yesterday on both Twitter and Instagram. He stated that his inspiration was the Ben Reilly design from the comicbooks.

So because I can't show any new artwork right now and apparently because everyone is digging the unused Valkyrie and unused Hulk hair styles, here is a unused Spider-Man design. This was done for Civil War, which seems forever ago now. This design pass is inspired by the Ben Reilly costume which was originally designed by the awesome @officialmarkbagleyart for the comics! It's fun trying out different size spiders and playing with the web designs when I'm designing Spidey suits for the MCU. Head over to my Twitter where I'll have the full suit uploaded 👍#spiderman #captainamericacivilwar #spidermanhomecoming #spidey #marvelcomics #marvelstudios #benreilly #conceptart #costumedesign #superhero #marvelcinematicuniverse

Meinerding’s design undoubtedly played a part in the official costume used in both Civil War and Homecoming, since web-head still has canisters lining his waist for easier access.

The final design still has Spidey shooting webbing from homemade shooters on his wrist. Fans have commented on the post, hoping this version of the suit will make it onto the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel.

Tom Holland will be reprising his role as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War, hitting theaters on May 4th, 2018. He will also play Parker in the Homecoming sequel, scheduled to come out on July 5th, 2019.
