The prospect of Wolverine coming into the Deadpool timeline isn’t just a pipe dream for Reynolds. He’s actually brought up the idea seriously to Jackman for a long time. Unfortunately, this desire comes at the time in Jackman’s career where he has so far retired his role as Logan, but that hasn’t stopped Reynolds from trying…
“I think convincing Hugh of that would be a near-impossible feat, but there’s no human being I love more than Hugh Jackman in that universe, and equally so as a friend. He’s just the best. I already miss him as Logan, so I’m one of those guys that whenever I see him, I’m like, ‘Come on, man. Just one more. Come on. We’ll do it together. It’ll be fun. Come on! On three. Here we go, together. One, two, three, together,’ and it’s always just me saying it,” Reynolds said.
With Jackman’s latest project, a coffee company, being promoted at the same time as Deadpool 2, it is understandable that he’s been asked about the same project. In an interview with Good Morning America, Jackman explained that yes, Reynolds has come to him about the project many times, but he’s just not taking the bait. Yet…
“I might just have a little message for Ryan. I love you, man. I love Deadpool. I can’t wait to see the movie. You’re one of my best friends. Blake, the fam, the whole thing. But back it up a little. Play a little hard to get. It’s too much; it’s not sexy.”
Even if Jackman is saying no now, the future is not set in stone, especially considering the Fox/Disney acquisition that could easily shake things up for two of our favorite mutants in the future. To be fair, Jackman has played Wolverine over five times now, but even a cameo would make fans around the world go crazy.
In the meantime, we’ll just have to settle for the pair’s off-screen bromance.
Deadpool 2 hits theaters next week, on May 18th, 2018, starring Ryan Reynolds, but unfortunately not Hugh Jackman. Although some more X-Men jokes could make an appearance once more!
