In a conversation between the two heroes, Doctor Strange says, “Thor, I sense a great change in your future. Destiny has dire plans for you my friend.”
“I have dire plans for destiny,” Thor replies. This scene was hinted at in the Ragnarok teaser trailer as well. It’s only speculation at the moment of how the aforementioned baton will make its way back into the hands of the Sorcerer Supreme.
In a recent interview with Collider, Kevin Feige began reassuring fans and asking them to be patient for the next installment of Doctor Strange. “Certainly, we would love to tell more about the Strange story [in a sequel]. Yes. It won’t be for a while.” He continues, “Our focus is on the next six movies. Finishing the first three phases, getting Untitled Avengers out into the world [in 2019] before publicly focusing on anything else.”
While there are new films incoming to the MCU, it’s great that fans don’t have to worry that their favorite Sorcerer Supreme has been forgotten in the decade-long release schedule that Marvel Studios has ambitiously set for itself. Until he returns as the main protagonist on the big screen, keep a lookout for his cameo in Thor: Ragnarok set to drop on November 2nd.
