“Yeah, as some of you are guessing from that cover, #16 will be our last issue of Hawkeye,” Kelly Thompson said regarding the death of the title. “Obviously I’m disappointed, but I’m really proud of our book & 16 issues is a solid number in modern times. And there’s maybe something interesting coming next? We’ll see!”
Iceman’s Sina Grace presented his fans with a handwritten letter which cites the cancellation of his work as the result of solo X-Men comicbooks not being nearly as sought after by retailers as they should be.
“Yup Iceman is coming to a close,” Grace wrote. “I am supremely bummed out, but was given plenty of notice (and even a Hail Mary or two). Everyone at Marvel has been super supportive, but at the end of the day solo X-titles are a hard sell for retailers…”

Secret Warriors writer and former comicbooks retailer, Matthew Rosenberg used his Twitter account to say that this kind of thing is typical. Cancellations in the comicbook industry continuously happen to make room for newer material, “that’s just the cycle” Rosenberg says.
