The biggest connection to the storyline from Infinity War is obviously the mid-credits scene. We knew the story took place prior to the fight against Thanos, but the post-credits scene lined everything up. If you haven’t seen the film but are reading this with no worries about spoilers, Dr. Hank Pym, Janet, and Hope van Dyne send Scott into the Quantum Realm through Pym’s Quantum tunnel to capture some of its “healing energy” to give to Ghost. While Scott is in the Realm, Thanos completes his mission in Wakanda and snaps his fingers. Although it doesn’t show Thanos, it does show Pym and the van Dynes turn into dust like our heroes did in Infinity War.
So now that the timeline is caught up, the question now turns to: “How is Ant-Man going to escape the Quantum Realm?” Maybe Bill Foster helps get him out, as he does know a thing or two, but we’re not sure if he survived the snap. Maybe Scott uses the time vortex that Janet told him to avoid and that’s how he learns that time travel is possible. Or, as some others have suggested, Captain Marvel may have something to do with it as well. It’s been theorized, purely through speculation, that she may be in the Quantum Realm instead of space, meaning she could save him on her way to save the universe.
We’ll learn exactly how it all plays out when Avengers 4 opens in theaters next May, but for now, at least we know our guy Ant-Man is going to be back with Captain America and the rest of the Avengers fighting for the good guys… They’re going to need all the help they can get come 2019!
