Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige Discusses The Future With ‘The Eternals’

Speaking with ScreenRant during the Ant-Man and the Wasp press junket, Feige was asked about the Eternals and the potential of seeing them in the MCU someday. Feige said:

“One of the cool things about that property and what Jack Kirby did with it and what’s been done with it in recent years is it does tie into they’re called Eternals, they’ve been around for a long time. You know? There’s this notion of all of these myths and legends that we know from ancient times, were they inspired by the Eternals? Were they Eternals? It’s a very … you know, it’s an ancient aliens kind of sci-fi trope that we think would be fun to explore someday.”

After being endowed with some cosmic powers and adopting super abilities of their own, including enhanced speed, strength, flight, telepathy, energy manipulation, etc., the Eternals became somewhat like gods in the world of Marvel. They may have influenced ancient civilizations early in Earth’s timeline, not to mention other races like the Kree and Skrulls, whom they did come in contact with in the source material.

The fact that they are also immortal certainly adds to their attractiveness as candidates for their own film as well. Whether it was a bit of an origin story or not, we would love to see the Eternals in action in the MCU!

Only time will tell what the team over at Marvel Studios decides, but at least it seems like they are heading in the right direction with a vision for the future.
