It’s Trivia Tuesday! Tell us, which of the below characters did Stan Lee have a hand in co-creating?

A. Ymir

B. Yukon Jack

C. Yeti

D. Yandroth

And the answers are…

A. Ymir and C. Yeti!

But before we dive into their tales, let’s hear it for the other ‘Y’ characters!

Yukon Jack

Yukon Jack, real name Yukotujakzurjimozoata, first maneuvered himself into the pages of Alpha Flight Vol. 3 #1 in May 2004. Scott Lobdell and Clayton Henry created this former Alpha Flight member.

Yandroth

Dan Adkins and Jim Lawrence are responsible for bringing this alien scientist to life. A foe of Doctor Strange, Yandroth was first conjured in Strange Tales #194, cover dated January 1968.

And now, onto the Stan co-creations!

Ymir

Adapted by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby from Norse lore, Ymir debuted in Journey into Mystery #97 in October 1963. The ice giant frequently clashed with the gods of Asgard and had one main aim: destruction. As the word ‘giant’ in the preceding sentence gave away, Ymir indeed stands very tall – over 1,000 feet! Ymir is covered in snow and ice, which helps him generate extreme coldness from his body. In fact, he can freeze anything he touches and even regenerate from a small piece of ice!

Yeti

Yeti, mutated by the Terrigen Mist, first clawed his way into the pages of Fantastic Four #99 in June 1970. Co-created by the team of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, this Inhuman was a former member of the team First Line. (He left the team after losing control during a battle and turning into a violent beast.) Indeed, Yeti finds himself easily incensed, which in turn can make him so enraged that’s he’s almost impossible to beat. That tendency, along with his extraordinary strength and razor-sharp claws and teeth, make him a formidable character to cross!

Every couple of weeks, we’ll spotlight some of Stan’s most obscure co-creations through trivia, starting with A and ending with Z! Stay tuned for the final chapter, ‘Z,’ coming soon!
