Six Actors Left Unrecognizable After Their ‘Super’ Makeup Jobs!

Dick Durock As Swamp Thing

Dick Durock first undertook the role of DC Comics’ scientist-turned-nature-elemental in 1982 with Swamp Thing and then The Return Of Swamp Thing in 1989. Sitting through hours upon hours of makeup application wasn’t the only challenging part of Durock’s job: he was also required to wear an extremely heavy bodysuit, which made his interpretation even more demanding.

Durock shared his experience in a 2008 interview with mania.com: “At the end of the day you’re wearing 80 pounds of wet latex,” he said, “plus all the chemicals on your face. It sure isn’t sunglasses and autographs, I’ll tell ya.”
