We’re only two weeks into 2020, and it’s already been quite a year for Scarlett Johansson!
Not only is her first highly anticipated standalone Marvel movie, Black Widow, coming out in a few months, but she’s also just nabbed her first – and second! – Oscar nominations, a Best Actress nod for Marriage Story and a Best Supporting Actress nomination for Jojo Rabbit. (In an interesting turn of events, Johansson will be squaring off against her Black Widow co-star Florence Pugh in more than just that movie – Pugh also scored a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for Little Women.)
Yesterday in particular must have been a whirlwind day for the actress. Early in the morning, the Oscar nominations were revealed, and later last night, during the NCAA Football National Championship game, Marvel dropped a new look at Black Widow. Though this video spot featured some of the same footage as the first trailer, it gives fans a better look at Taskmaster in action, as well as Natasha and her allies Yelena (Florence Pugh), Melina (Rachel Weisz), and Alexei, aka Red Guardian (David Harbour). Check out the special look below:
But that’s not all! Marvel recently unleashed a new featurette celebrating Black Widow’s legacy over the past decade. The video features footage of Scarlett Johansson speaking about the character back in 2009 and more recently, along with Marvel head Kevin Feige and Black Widow director Cate Shortland discussing the upcoming release. You can check that out here:
Feige says in this video that Black Widow’s standalone movie is something fans have been waiting to see for years. Luckily, they won’t have to wait much longer – Black Widow will be released in the US on May 1.
