Amadeus Cho will be tearing through Marvel comic book pages once more as the Incredible Hulk in a sequel to the 2007 series, World War Hulk.
The original run starred Bruce Banner as the gamma green behemoth, but this story features his successor, returning from the planet Sakaar.
Cho’s run-in with Banner in Generations highlighted the young hero’s struggle in coping with his identity as the Hulk and where that situation leaves those that he promised to protect. Sakaar has given him absolute free rein, so all of Cho’s previous qualms from past storylines will undoubtedly be changed.
“What follows Planet Hulk II?” questions senior vice president and executive editor of Marvel Comics, Tom Brevoort. “World War Hulk II, of course! To survive on the savage world of Sakaar, Amadeus Cho was forced to unleash his darkest impulses!
“Returning to Earth, now the Hulk is at the wheel—and it’s a more unpredictable, more unconquerable Hulk than any we’ve seen before! The heroes of the Marvel Universe must intercede as the Formerly Awesome Hulk begins to carve his own path across the world.”
The original storyline for World War Hulk saw Banner jettisoned into space by The Illuminati, fronted by Doctor Strange, Tony Stark, Black Bolt, and Reed Richards. Hulk’s spacecraft explodes, killing his pregnant wife as a result. Driven by the vengeful emotions of her passing, as well as his exponentially upped strength due to absorbing Sakaar’s intense radiation levels, Hulk returns to earth with several allies to confront his deceivers.
World War Hulk II’s creative team includes past author Greg Pak and Carlo Barberi. The series hits comicbook store shelves with Incredible Hulk #714 in March 2018.
