Since the dawn of Deadpool’s technical on-screen debut, there has been an ongoing feud/friendship between Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds. The two stars have spent years making fun of each other’s on screen and off screen personas, all with the underlying relationship of camaraderie and respect.
Since the characters of Deadpool and Wolverine technically share the same universe, the quips and pranks have not stopped over the past decade or so. In fact, it’s been one thing fans have looked forward to as Deadpool made his first standalone film, which included a few Wolverine and X-Men jokes.
The pair first portrayed the characters on-screen together in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. Since then, it seems like the timeline has changed, considering Wade Wilson’s character became Weapon X and didn’t make it past that single film. While it was cool seeing them together, the film was not received well by critics, so the Wolverine/Deadpool relationship was never further developed.
However, that hasn’t stopped a campaign (mostly done by Reynolds himself) to have the pair collaborate once again. This has mostly been done by the use of fan-made parody posters combining the X-Men universe with the new Deadpool films.
Finally, though, while promoting the second Deadpool film, Ryan was asked to update us on his current viewpoint of a possible reunion between the two iconic characters, and he had this to say:
“He’s alive and well in my timeline. There is a Logan running around out there with a little bushy chest and his little sharpy, sharpy claws, and he is alive and well and ready to go. I would love that.”
