Fans of the popular Spider-Man villain Venom should be looking forward to the days of resurgence ahead. A Sony Pictures origin film of the web-slinging symbiote is scheduled for release on Oct.5, 2018 with actor Tom Hardy as the lead role as Eddie Brock/Venom. The cast will also include Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, and Jenny Slate with Veep actor Reid Scott currently discussing if he will have a part to play as well. Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) will be manning the directorial chair for this project with Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal overseeing production.
The script for Venom will be written by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji), Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower), and Kelly Marcel. The last big screen interpretation of the Venom supervillain was in 2007 with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, and a small cameo in Amazing Spider-Man 2 as an experiment in Oscorp.
