One of the biggest points of excitement for comicbook fans, especially when it comes to the films centered around stories from the page, are the moments where characters and storylines cross over. With the Disney and Fox deal seemingly imminent, fans are clamoring for the Marvel Cinematic Universe to get an influx of characters that we haven’t seen in the MCU. Then there’s the deal that Sony and Marvel Studios made to bring Spider-Man into the fold that has everyone looking forward to a possible crossover with Tom Hardy’s Venom, whether with Tom Holland’s Peter Parker or into the MCU.
Some of the most interesting characters are the ones that are part of different cinematic properties. For example, Quicksilver. We’ve seen two separate versions of Pietro Maximoff; one portrayed by Evan Peters in X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, and a quick cameo in Deadpool 2. The other portrayed by Aaron Taylor-Johnson in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Because the character is used in different Marvel properties owned by different studios, he’s able to be used in a way that a Wolverine or Captain America isn’t, but he and his sister Wanda, AKA Scarlet Witch, aren’t allowed to be referred to as mutants in the MCU films due to licensing.
Another character who fits this bill is the Spider-Man and Daredevil villain Kingpin, also known as Wilson Fisk. Kingpin will be one of the villains in the upcoming Sony production of the animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. He’s also the main adversary of Matt Murdock in the Marvel Studios/Netflix show Daredevil. It’s been largely speculated that the MCU series won’t be crossing over with the films, which has led many fans to be disappointed. It’s going to be awesome to see Spider-Man square off against Kingpin during Into The Spider-Verse, but what about Tom Holland matching up with Vincent D’Onofrio? One fan took to Twitter to share their feelings about that never happening, but Kingpin himself stepped in to give us all some hope that we could see it in live-action…

There have been many rumored villains to be a part of Spider-Man: Far From Home, and Kingpin isn’t one of them. We do have to safely assume that this won’t be the last time we see Holland suit up as Spider-Man, though, and as good as D’Onofrio is as Wilson Fisk, who wouldn’t want to see that happen? Maybe we can even get Daredevil in an MCU film… The possibilities are endless!
