‘The Uncanny X-Men’ Are Set To Make Their Big Comicbook Return!

The X-Men are easily some of the most recognizable faces in the Marvel comicbook world, and it’s safe to say that things wouldn’t be the same without the mutants doing what they do best. From Charles Xavier, Cyclops, Storm, Beast, to Wolverine, the team has definitely expanded and evolved over time, making room for new faces and sometimes familiar ones to return. With that said, The Uncanny X-Men, which first arrived on the scene decades ago, was the flagship that seemingly helped assert the X-Men into the comicbook world. Over 500 issues have been created since it all began in 1963, and it appears that things are nowhere near finished!

That’s right, The Uncanny X-Men are set to make their big return to the world of Marvel comicbooks, and we all couldn’t be more excited to see what the team comes up with, especially with X-Men: Blue and X-Men: Gold coming to a close this September. This could make the perfect reopening.

According to Den of Geek, “The return of Uncanny X-Men was discussed at the same panel (at SDCC) as another big announcement: X-Men Black, a series of villain-focused one-shots released weekly in October, with legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont leading the way. The books include:

  • Magneto, by Claremont and Dalabor Talajic
  • Mojo, by Scott Aukerman and Nick Bradshaw
  • Mystique, by Seanan Mcguire and Marco Failla
  • Juggernaut, by Robbie Thompson and Shawn Crystal
  • Emma Frost, by Leah Williams and Chris Bachalo.”

With X-Men: Black set to arrive in October, some even speculate that it could be setting up The Uncanny X-Men after the series plays out. What’s cool about X-Men: Black is that it’s kicking off with an issue by Chris Claremont, the man who’s era with The Uncanny X-Men lasted from 1975-1991, the longest with the series to date. Claremont will be writing Magneto, which is one character that he’s more than familiar with. It’ll be exciting to see what he and the others come up with and to see if he ends up on board The Uncanny X-Men again when the time comes. As far as an official roster of the players involved or official release dates, we are still in the dark, but you can bet that it will be well worth the wait when all is said and done!
