If you’ve already seen Avengers: Infinity War, then it’s possible that your heart is still cleaved in two, and you’re working on assembling the pieces so that you can go back to routine life. It’s confirmed that Avengers 4 is on the way for a release date next year, which will hopefully provide some answers and closure to the questions that many of us have after Thanos pulverized half of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Joe and Anthony Russo are certainly two of the creative masterminds behind Infinity War that you can point your shaky fingers at if you want to blame someone for sticking to their guns in storytelling, no matter how bad it hurts. With one hugely successful comicbook and cinematic event out of the way, all roads lead towards the untitled Avengers 4.
Joe Russo said in an interview with CB when asked about the ruling out of “Infinity Gauntlet” as the possible title for the next Avengers film, saying, “I don’t think there are any comics that correlate to it. I think we’re in pretty fresh territory with Avengers 4. If anything, I think it’s interesting after to go back and look at some of the Marvel films and view them through a different lens. But I can’t think of any comics, in particular, that would have value.”
The Russo Brothers and the team at Marvel certainly have a creative direction that they’d like to head in as things move into Phase 4 of the MCU, and although they respect and pay homage to the original source material in many ways, they aren’t planning on sticking to that script 100% by any means.
