Fans of the newest entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Ragnarok, have received a special behind-the-scenes treat. The creators of the film have released a VFX reel for cinephiles to revel in the painstaking production process. The video goes into detail of the before-and-after effects within scenes including Thor’s battle with the demonic Surtur.
The side-by-side comparative footage of director Taika Waititi as the giant rock creature, Korg, is particularly humorous. The on-screen footage tears away to reveal both the director and another actor as Meek standing beside one another during the introductory scene, where Thor is kept against his will as a gladiator in Sakaar.
The footage also shows each shot before color grading and additional CG magic which helps to make creatures like Korg look part of the world.
