The tourism board of Hawkins, Indiana is marketing its new attractions now that the monster is trapped back in the Upside Down! A new advertisement for the new Starcourt Mall in Hawkins has been released, showcasing the best in 80’s mall amenities. This cheesy, nostalgic advertisement comes as a clever way to give Stranger Things fans a little glimpse of the upcoming third season.
The new season will take place in the thick of the 80’s, and the culture seems to be as big of a breakout character as the Demogorgon itself! Since the second season premiered to massively positive reviews, fans have been eagerly waiting for news on the next round of adventures with Will, Eleven, Dustin, Steve, and the rest of the gang.
The trailer doesn’t exactly reveal much about the new season (besides the totally arbitrary fact that Hawkins is getting a new mall), but it does show a little cameo of everyone’s favorite babysitter, Steve Harrington.
It seems that the new season will give Steve a summer job working at the ice cream shop, Scoops Ahoy, complete with a nautical uniform and sailor hat over his famously voluminous hair. From the looks of the commercial, he does not look too happy about his job. Steve’s never before seen coworker also appears in the commercial, and it turns out this is the kind-of-onscreen debut of a new cast member played by Maya Hawke. Her character name is Robin, and according to Variety, who first broke the news of her role on Stranger Things, this is her character bio:
” ‘alternative girl’ bored with her mundane day job. She seeks excitement in her life and gets more than she bargained for when she uncovers a dark secret in Hawkins, Ind.”
The nature of Robin’s character is currently unknown, but given that the end of season 2 had poor Steve looking longingly as Nancy from afar, he is on the market for a new love interest, so that is our best guess for now. Check out the advertisement for the Starcourt Mall below:

While the lively commercial is very fun to watch, the most operative factor of the video is the ending where the announcer says that mall is coming to Hawkins “next summer?” This serves as a confirmation that Season 3 will be premiering on Netflix in the summer of 2019, as well.
Filming has been underway since the end of April, so perhaps this means it will be wrapping up in the near future, as well. While we already knew that the show would reappear in 2019, now we have a more definitive date set. Hopefully, Steve’s hair won’t always be covered by that delightfully silly ice cream hat!
