Robert Downey Jr. Responds To Chris Evans’ Cryptic MCU Tweet With One Of His Own

There has been a lot of discussion about speculation about what’s to come in the upcoming Avengers 4. With both as epic and as heartbreaking as Avengers: Infinity War was, we can only assume that the stakes are going to be raised even higher for the conclusion of Phase 3 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. That could ultimately mean bigger battles, greater destruction, and more death. Although its widely assumed that many, if not all, of the heroes that we lost to Thanos’ snap at the end of Infinity War will somehow make their return, many believe we’re going to lose at least one of the original six Avengers at some point in the film.

The growing speculation revolves around Steve Rogers being the hero to bite the dust, no Infinity War pun intended. With Captain America actor Chris Evans not only being at the end of his contract, he’s also been talking about the end for quite some time. We went into detail about his open discussions HERE, but he also took to his Twitter page to share a heartfelt message after wrapping up his reshoots for Avengers 4. The words, sentiment, and tone all seem to point in the direction of his finale, although we all still hold out some semblance of hope.

To add to the speculation, Robert Downey Jr. also took to Twitter to share a special dedication to his co-star. As many people know, these two men have built quite the bond over the last eight years as the leaders of the Avengers and the MCU. Although their characters may not see eye to eye all the time, they always seem to find common ground to make sure the world and now the universe, is safe. Off-screen, the pair became fast friends with a mutual admiration respect for not only their talents but also their characters. With RDJ’s latest tweet to Chris, it does make it seem like Evans has finished up his time starring as Captain America.

The hope we all hold is that this is all some sort of ruse, or smokescreen rather. Maybe Marvel Studios, the Russo Brothers, and Evans are setting us all up for something completely left field. While we don’t expect these actors to portray the characters forever, them leaving now still seems a bit too soon. What do you all think, is he toast or are they pulling a classic “bait and switch?”
