Marvel’s Doctor Strange will be getting a sequel following the main character right after his big battle with Kaecilius in the first film. The President of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has hinted at the Sorcerer Supreme’s triumphant return to the big screen.
Not only does Benedict Cumberbatch’s Stephen Strange have a cameo in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, but he is also said to have a more direct role in Avengers: Infinity War. It is possible that the director of the first Doctor Strange film, Scott Derrickson has signed on or is highly considering it. Derrickson recently posted this tweet for his fans to see and a whirlwind of speculation regarding his involvement has come about as a result.

Derrickson goes on to say that, “The alternate dimensions and possibilities of the multiverse that we set up with the first film already give limitless possibilities.”
It is believed that the mid-credits scene in Doctor Strange where the titular character meets with Thor in New York’s Sanctum Sanctorum will be at the start of Thor: Ragnarok. This would make the scene feel like a cinematic handing off of the baton, seamlessly carrying on from Thor’s point of view.
