Captain Marvel looks like she’s going to be one of the characters that takes the Marvel Cinematic Universe into Phase 4 and beyond. Not only is Carol Danvers the strongest hero in the MCU, she’s also being portrayed by Academy Award-winning actress Brie Larson. Not only does she have the acting chops to provide the depth necessary for the character, she brings star power with her as well, something even a brand as big as the MCU can always use more of.
While we did get the post-credit scene in Avengers: Infinity War that features Nick Fury sending out a call for Danvers, the first time we’ll actually get to see her in action will be when Captain Marvel hits theaters next year. The film, directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, will be set in the 90s and will bring about the return of Agent Phil Coulson, Ronan the Accuser, and Korath the Pursuer, all of whom have perished in MCU films of the past. Samuel L. Jackson will also be back in the role of a young Nick Fury.
With Captain Marvel getting closer by the day, fans are starting to take it upon themselves to make promotional material for the film. Instagram user @neildaviesillustration1 created a film poster that’s been making the rounds on the Internet and getting tons of positive feedback in the process. It’s so good, in fact, that many folks are petitioning for it to be one of the official posters. What do you think?
Captain Marvel is scheduled to open in theaters worldwide on March 8th, 2019 before the hero joins Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in Avengers 4 on May 3rd, 2019.
