We don’t quite know how it’s going to happen, and we’re not sure what the cost will be to make it happen, but Tom Holland is coming back as the web-slinging Spider-Man in 2019. The sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming is currently in production across the pond and some clever photogs have shot some footage of the young Holland in action as Spidey. Honestly, there isn’t much information available that explains exactly why they’re filming in Holland’s home country, but Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has given a little info up.
Speaking to ScreenRant about the film’s title, Spider-Man: Far From Home, and the location, Feige had this to say:
“You know, I don’t want to talk too much about it. It’s very early days. We’re filming soon. We are filming. We will be based in London as we’ve done with many of our films for that one. We like that it ties into the title Homecoming, we like that. We like that the way Homecoming, there are multiple meetings.”
The film is set to pick up right after the events of Avengers 4. With everything that’s happened, we’re likely to get a more matured Peter Parker as he’s now helped fight for the sake of the universe, travel into space, and feel the effects of whatever happened to him after Thanos’ snap. It isn’t every day that someone is forced to suffer that fate and somehow make it back to tell the story.
The footage from the set of Far From Home doesn’t have much context to it, but what it does show is Holland going through something emotionally. While there’s likely no chance that the stakes can be as high as they were in Avengers: Infinity War nor as high as they’ll likely be in Avengers 4, Holland does bring something special to the role of Peter Parker. If this scene tells us anything, it’s that Peter is having to deal with some pretty serious stuff over in the UK. Check it out below…
