Since the announcement that various Disney parks around the world would be getting Marvel expansions, the Disney Imagineers have been wasting no time in bringing new world and rides to life for fans to experience. Much of the news came earlier this year when it was announced that Disney’s California Adventure would be getting a Marvel-themed land, and Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disney would be getting some type of addition based on the MCU.
Now, as part of a multi-year expansion to Hong Kong Disney, an attraction based on the latest MCU film, Ant-Man and the Wasp, will be the newest addition. The initial concept art for this new attraction was first released at Japan D23 2018 back in February, but no real details of the nature of the attraction have been released until now. As per the original attraction announcement:
“In the new attraction, guests will join Ant-Man and The Wasp to fight Arnim Zola and his army of Hydra swarm bots.”
After it opens, this will be the second Marvel-themed attraction in Hong Kong Disneyland after the Iron Man Experience, which opened last year and has quickly become the most popular ride in the park. The entire expansion project is expected to be finished by 2023, which includes more Marvel installations, as well as a new Moana show, a Frozen-themed area, and a remodeled castle.
This week, however, the news is all about Ant-Man and the Wasp. The attraction will debut in 2019 and has been officially named “Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!” We’ve also learned that it will be a dark ride, and will feature appearances by the cast of the film, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly.
