The year 2018 has turned out to be a really big one for the Black Panther. After a smashing success in the box office, the first film being celebrated internationally as a cultural phenomenon, and an increasing popularity in the comicbooks, the limits are continuously being pushed and redefined.
Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates is one such innovator and creator who has helped shape the world of Wakanda in the comicbook realm and has recently kicked things up a notch. Now, introduced for the first time is the Intergalactic Empire of Wakanda, courtesy of Coates and artist Daniel Acuna, in Black Panther #1.
Yes that’s right we’re taking Wakanda and the Black Panther into deep space, and it couldn’t look any cooler!
Without giving too much away, we are introduced to an imprisoned character being woken abruptly from a lovely dream in some sort of a holding cell. The futuristic stylings of Acuna are apparent in the garments that he’s wearing and help to give this comicbook a nice edge that feels almost like it’s going to pop off of the pages.
