Reed Richards, Ben Grimm, and Johnny and Sue Storm are teaming up yet again in the comicbook revival of the Fantastic Four! Issue #1 is set to hit comicbook shelves near you on August 8th, and in the meantime, we get a preview of some of the amazing covers that will be coming along with the stories.
The description for Fantastic Four #1 per Marvel’s Digital Comic Shop reads:
“BECAUSE YOU DEMANDED IT – THE WORLD’S GREATEST COMIC MAGAZINE IS BACK! Since the end of SECRET WARS, there’s been a gap in the Marvel Universe. A void no other team can fill. And it’s time for the world to move on. But can it? A life-changing decision by the Thing! A momentous declaration by the Human Torch! A clarion call-to-arms that summons Doctor Doom! And a signal in the sky that heralds the return of hope to the Marvel Universe! All this, and Alicia Masters adopts kittens! So cute! Plus, the Impossible Man! AND BONUS STORIES ILLUSTRATED BY SIMONE BIANCHI AND SKOTTIE YOUNG! IF YOU READ ONLY ONE MARVEL COMIC THIS MONTH, THIS IS THE ONE!”
This timely release is intentional down to the very date. Exactly 57 years ago, the Fantastic Four came into existence thanks to the visionary collaboration of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. In honor of that, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer, Joe Quesada, put together a planet-eating sized variant cover for the occasion which you can see in the picture above!
The synopsis for Fantastic Four #2, to be released on September 12th, reads:
“WISH YOU WERE HERE! What have Reed, Sue and the kids been up to all this time? What adventures have they been on? What strange new friends have they found along the way? What deadly new enemies have they made? And what are Franklin and Valeria’s new codenames? All these questions will be answered… just in time for ENTIRE UNIVERSES TO DIE! The return of Marvel’s First Family keeps getting more and more intense! Don’t you dare miss a single moment of the World’s Greatest Comic Magazine!”
For now, it’s more or less a waiting game until we finally get to sink our teeth into Fantastic Four #1. It’s bound to be great with Dan Slott taking on the bulk of the writing with Sara Pichelli supplying the art on the pages. Esad Ribic will be doing the original cover art, which looks absolutely stunning. We can’t wait, can you?!
