Jim Starlin Responds To Rumor That More Of His Characters Are Appearing In ‘Avengers 4’

Since the early ’70s, Jim Starlin has been giving the comicbook world a run for its money by creating or co-creating some of the most memorable characters that we know and love today. If you didn’t know, Starlin is the mind behind Thanos, who has recently become super-villain No. 1 in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is no small undertaking. Thanos will undoubtedly play a central role in the upcoming Avengers 4 movie set to hit theaters next year, so with that in mind, none of that could have been possible without Starlin’s creativity.

However, Thanos isn’t the only creation of Starlin’s that has made its way into the MCU in recent years. Two of the core members of the Guardians of the Galaxy were created by Starlin as well. Ever hear of Gamora and Drax the Destroyer? Yep, that’s right! Starlin brought them into the fold, which brings his MCU character count to three total, although it does appear that death is playing her hand in more than one of their lives at the moment.

It remains to be seen how things will play out in Avengers 4 following the events of Infinity War with so many characters being taken out of commission by Thanos’ finger snap. Unfortunately for Starlin’s creations, Drax was among the disintegrated and possibly dead. As for Gamora, Thanos threw her off that really high cliff to secure the Soul Stone, although it is believed that at least a part of her is currently surviving within it.

There have been talks all over the web about the potential of another one of Jim Starlin’s character creations or collaborations making an appearance in the untitled Avengers 4 film next year. It seems like there was definitely some misunderstanding surrounding Starlin’s lighthearted response to a reporter at a convention in Puerto Rico. This certainly helped spread the misinformation by blurring the lines between fans’ hopes and reality. To clear up the rumors, Starlin took to Facebook to address the issue personally…

Although it would be really awesome to see some more of Starlin’s creations like Kronos, Korvac, Mentor, or even Shang-Chi in the next Avengers film, it appears that’s not on the menu at the moment. One can only hope for the future as the MCU dives deeper into their storytelling!
