Avengers: Infinity War is only a mere 17 days away from hitting theaters. With its approach being so close, the promotional pieces and advertisement get a little louder and a whole lot bolder. We’ve had the pleasure of seeing multiple trailers and TV spots that have been focused on the biggest names in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, now it’s time for Thanos!
Sure, we’ve seen quite a bit of the Mad Titan in the trailers and TV spots, and one of the film’s writers, Stephen McFeely told Empire, “You could call this movie ‘Avengers: Thanos’ if you wanted to. He is the main character.” Even still, he’s powerful enough to make an even bigger impact across the world when it comes to promo. This is why it’s not that big of a surprise that Thanos plays a major part in one of the coolest advertisements we’ve seen so far, and it comes from a Japanese newspaper.
The ad looks to focus on a still from the New York scene from the trailers that show Tony Stark looking up at, what we assume, is Thanos’ Q-Ship before Thanos crashes the Infinity Gauntlet through the newspaper, clutching a shattering Avengers logo. Is this a sign of things to come? More than likely, as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes are bound going to take some lumps along the way. Speculation has run rampant when discussing theories as to who’s going to survive this war. Between The Black Order and Thanos himself, our heroes are in for the fight of their lives, and as the Mad Titan looks to “bring balance” to the universe, the Avengers and their allies look to restore peace by defeating an enemy set to destroy them.
Both the writers and directors of this film are aiming for Thanos to be bigger than life. Joe Russo, co-director, had this to say to Empire about him and the film: “With a film this big, you have to tie it to a point of view. The point of view in this movie is Thanos, which makes this a really unique film. We want people to walk out of the theater going, ‘That is a bad man.’”
We’ll find out just how bad he is when Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on April 27th!
