James Gunn Talks About ‘GotG Vol. 3′ And Answers Fans’ Questions About Details

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has zero intentions on slowing down anytime soon, and while we still have three films left in Phase Three, Phase Four is already starting to take shape. One franchise that will be helping to lead the MCU into the future is the James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 has already been announced, and Gunn is currently finishing up the script, along with all of the important pieces that go with it.

On Sunday, June 4th, Gunn took to his Facebook page to give us some updates on the process and said that Vol. 3 isn’t going to be like its two predecessors. With the events of Avengers: Infinity War wiping every character from the team off of the map, sans Rocket and Nebula, there’s no doubt it will be different, but Avengers 4 could potentially reverse some of that. With Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Dave Bautista (Drax), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) already announcing they’ll be back in Vol. 3, it seems likely something drastic will be happening, but this is what Gunn said about his next film…

“It’s very, very, very different. Very different, but I won’t say how! You’ll have to wait to see the movie, it’s a long time away.”

In the comments of the Facebook post, Gunn took some time to answer some fans questions as well, which ranged from the soundtrack to the Disney/Fox deal. Always one to be open and honest with the fans of his films, Mr. Gunn fired away. When asked “What does your writing process look like?” Gunn responded…

“I’m more than a year into the process, so the script is far along. For many many months I first write the treatment which is 80 pages or so with photographs. That turns into GotG – I’m now rewriting and making sure my rough draft works.”
