Rocket Raccoon is always getting himself into something, isn’t he? Maybe it’s just a thing with raccoons because on Monday (June 11th) a raccoon was found on the ledge of a two-story building in St. Paul, Minnesota. Seems like a pretty easy save, except when maintenance tried to bring it down, they spooked the raccoon and it ran, climbing 20 stories up the UBS Plaza. The event was quickly caught on film, which is perfectly normal for 2018, and news quickly spread on Twitter with the hashtag #mprraccoon.

With the news sweeping the Internet, Marvel’s quintessential raccoon lover and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn got involved, offering $1,000 to the charity of choice of anyone who is able to save the animal. Now, this is merely speculation, but maybe his affinity for raccoons was the reason that Rocket is the only surviving member of the Guardians after Avengers: Infinity War…
I'll donate a thousand bucks to the non political charity of choice to anyone who saves this raccoon. I can't handle this. Poor dude. https://t.co/2F5reAKkKa

Thankfully, some stories have a happy ending. While this daring raccoon was risking life and limb to scale buildings and try to become more like his heroic brethren Rocket, the good people of Minnesota were able to show off their inner superhero and save the cute little creature this morning (June 13th). Quite the two-day adventure for this guy!

Not only was the animal saved, but we were also able to get some pretty good Guardians jokes on Twitter as well. All’s well that ends well, right?

Also, if you think it wasn’t that big of a deal, this is the building the raccoon scaled. Even Spider-Man would be impressed!
