Here Are 11 Important Characters To Look For In The ‘Black Panther’ Trailer

It promises to be one of the most important entries in the MCU. After appearing in Captain America: Civil War, he was promised a stand-alone entry, and in February of 2018, we will finally be getting a Black Panther movie, complete with Chadwick Boseman as the Africa prince turned Avenger. Overseen by Ryan Coogler (responsible for the excellent Creed), the recent success of Wonder Woman argues for a desperate need for diversity in the genre.

The upcoming film will see Boseman’s King T’Challa return to his homeland of Wakanda, only to find rival factions challenging his power and the nation’s sovereignty. With the help of the CIA and his own internal special forces (the Dora Milaje), he will do what he can to prevent a world war while dealing with the domestic strife.

With Michael B. Jordan as the villainous Erik Killmonger and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o as a love interest and main Dora Milaje member, the February release promises to include many of the comic’s best characters. With a trailer dropping recently, here’s a guide to who’s who, who’s in and who’s not, and what we can anticipate from the effort.

King T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman)

Of course he is here, in all his Civil War branded regalia. Along with the various enemies he will face, including Killmonger, Klaue, Man-Ape and his White Ape Cult, he must take on the mantle of his late father. And since there is a scene with the character in a pool we assume he will be going through one of his many rituals.

Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan)

The main clash in this cinematic version of the comic book sees this character trying to overthrow T’Challa. When he takes a magic herb to increase his powers, he is poisoned by it.

Ulysses Klaue AKA Klaw (Andy Serkis)

We saw a little bit of him in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, and fans may be fretting over the fact that the wrong arm is missing, but for the most part this is a faithful rendition of a notorious Black Panther baddie.

Shuri (Letita Wright)

She is our hero’s half-sister. She will eventually be the only female to ever become the Black Panther.

Ramonda (Angela Bassett)

She is the stepmother of T’Challa and is known as one of his highness’s most trusted advisers. He considers her his legitimate mother.
