We are only a few weeks away from Marvel’s Daredevil being released on Netflix, and although this is the third season, it sometimes feels like Season 3 already happened. That’s because there was an explosive season of the Daredevil spinoff show, The Punisher, which came out last fall. While Daredevil himself wasn’t in the show, nor was he mentioned much, some of the supporting characters still made numerous appearances throughout Frank Castle’s story. These included Foggy, Karen, and some of the Hell’s Kitchen police force, to name a few.
Barring a second season of The Punisher, the only type of continuation of Castle’s story would be in Daredevil Season 3, even if Frank himself isn’t specifically present. The events that happened during The Punisher still must be reflected upon in stories to come.
During a set visit for the new season of Daredevil, the cast itself confirmed this correlation and went on to say that the two characters, with time, have become quite similar to each other. Cox had this to say about Frank Castle:
“With this particular show it’s always been – I mean, Steven DeKnight, the showrunner of Season 1 said before they had any idea that Frank Castle would come into Season 2 and have his own show, Steven would talk about this is a Daredevil that’s one bad day away from being Frank Castle. And that’s something I’ve always run with, I’ve always enjoyed playing that aspect of him.”
