Heroes In A Half-Shell: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Become Playable Fighters In ‘Injustice 2’

Everyone’s favorite sewer-dwelling heroes are putting their hand-to-shell combat skills on display, and gearing up for a matchup against some of DC’s toughest heroes and villains. Leo, Mikey, Don, and Raph have been part of the video game world ever since the late 80’s, coming into better focus in the early 90’s with the best-selling arcade beat ’em up known as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time by Konami.

The turtles were the creation of Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird, first appearing in their premiere issue in 1984 published by Mirage Studios. The four main characters were created to be a parody of four of the most popular comicbooks selling at the time including Dave Sim’s Cerebus, Marvel Comics’ Daredevil and New Mutants, and Ronin by Frank Miller.

The popularity of the series spawned film franchises, successful toylines, and animated series. However, the turtles have recently been featured in a trailer for DC’s Injustice 2 fighting game, and their moves have become more creative over the years.
