In less than three weeks Solo: A Star Wars Story is going to be opening in theaters across the world. The film is serving as an origin story for Han Solo, one of the most beloved characters in the original Star Wars Universe. This film will focus on a few important moments that shaped the Han that we all know and love. One of these will be how he met Chewbacca before becoming friends, partners, and brother’s in arms across a galaxy far, far away. It will be fun to watch one of the most iconic partnerships in science fiction history come together.
Solo will also reveal the moment that Han procures the Millennium Falcon from Lando Calrissian. While fans of the saga have heard details about this moment, we’ll finally get the opportunity to see it play out in live action. Alden Ehrenreich’s Han and Donald Glover’s Lando go head-to-head in a game of sabacc, and the Falcon looks to be exchanged in the process. This looks to be the introduction between the two as well, so we’ll be seeing the beginnings of their friendship blossoming.
Disney and Lucasfilm showed an extended look at the sabacc sequence during CinemaCon for fans, and have now released a new TV spot that shows the rest of the world bits and pieces of what was shown during CinemaCon. It may not be as much as those lucky viewers got, but it’s plenty enough to get us pumped up to see it play out when Solo: A Star Wars Story opens in theaters on May 25th. Take a look at the new TV spot below…
After Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, they’ve done a great job with not only the Force Awakens and The Last Jedi but also the anthology stories. Solo is shaping up to follow the trend and satisfy the appetites of the rabid fan base Star Wars has built over multiple generations.
