James Gunn Has Confirmed Multiple ‘GotG Vol. 2’ Easter Eggs This Week!

Hidden gems, better known as Easter eggs, have been used for decades in both media and computer software. If you’ve seen the movie Ready Player One, you know where it originated from, but anyone who didn’t make it out to see the Steven Spielberg directed film – which was overloaded with Easter eggs – the “Easter egg” originates in the Atari game Adventure from 1979. The game’s creator, Warren Robinett, was upset that Atari didn’t include their programmers’ names, so he included a way to get his recognition anyways, with an Easter egg. He explains in the video below…

Now, in present time, Easter eggs have become a large part of pop culture, and one man who has embraced them is Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn. In both the first and second volumes of his films, he’s included some incredibly difficult hidden gems, and fans of the franchise are constantly reaching out to him on social media trying to find out what they are. While some fans have found some tough ones from Vol. 1, Gunn has yet to confirm the main one he has hidden.

This brings us to Vol. 2. With James having already said there are many undiscovered eggs in the film, fans are in constant search of them. Two have been found as recently as this week, and one features a character from Rocket’s home planet of Halfworld and has been the partner-in-crime to the Guardian for years. Wal Rus can be seen in one of the scenes featuring the Sovereign. Twitter user @CK91236 reached out to James Gunn about his find, and it was confirmed.
