By 1987, Star Wars had become an international sci-fi phenomenon, spawning a diehard fandom that persists to this day. Something so legendary eventually becomes ripe for parody, as director Mel Brooks had demonstrated when he created the Star Wars spoof, Space Balls.
The recent release of the Solo: A Star Wars Story trailer has been no exception to light-hearted imitation in the style of Brooks’ 80s parody. The footage reveals Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian as well as Emilia Clarke’s Q’ira and Woody Harrelson’s Beckett.
A recent fan-made trailer mashed up footage from Spaceballs with audio from Solo, allowing both franchises to come full circle in a comedic mixture, bringing the Force and the Schwartz together once more.
