It’s the second week of February, which means another round of holidays. See how many of these celebrations you can keep up with from February 8-14th!
February 8: Kite Flying Day
Go fly a kite! We don’t mean that in a malicious way; we’re really suggesting you go out and do so! Besides the obvious recreational use, this seemingly straightforward invention has been utilized for many other purposes over the years, including meteorology, building bridges, transporting military messages, aerial photography, and beyond. Imagine that! How will you use a kite today?
February 9: Read in the Bathtub Day
In paper form, please. We’re certainly not advocating that you take your phone, tablet, computer, or any other electronic device in the tub with you – that would not be a bright idea. But how about this: go old school and grab a paperback or magazine, toss some bubbles in the bath, sit back, and R E L A X. Just make sure you don’t get your reading material soaked, especially if you celebrated our February 3rd holiday and borrowed your book and/or periodical from your local library!
February 10: National Umbrella Day
If it’s not raining where you are today, we’re going to refer you to Glee‘s “Singing in the Rain”/”Umbrella” mash-up, which can be found here. This should suffice as a proper umbrella celebration. If you do spot some raindrops outside, well, that sucks, but at least you’ve got an easy way to observe this holiday – if you are in possession of a rain-shade, that is. (Just beware of characters using this innocuous tool as a nefarious weapon, like the one above.)
