EW’s ‘Captain Marvel’ Images Reveal Much More About The Film Than We Originally Knew

Yesterday, we shared the cover for the September 14th issue of Entertainment Weekly that will feature Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. While that news was exciting enough, we wrongfully assumed that they would be waiting until then to release more content, but lo and behold, EW went and released 10 exclusive images from Captain Marvel. Through them and the EW cover story, we’re able to learn much more about the happenings in the film than we had previously known. Check out everything revealed below!

Hello, Captain!

The first great look at Brie Larson as Captain Marvel. The film is said to be sidestepping traditional origin film motifs and jumping right into the meat of the story with Danvers already having her powers. Although, our hero is going to have quite a few looks in the film so we may see a flashback or two as well.

Directors Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck have the described Starforce as the SEAL Team Six of space, and here we get a look at Carol Danvers and the rest of the Kree team, which has a couple of familiar faces in the ranks.

Learning on the Job

Jude Law is suspected to be playing Mar-Vell, commander of Starforce and mentor to Carol Danvers, but neither the studio or Law have confirmed it yet. He did, however, speak about Carol Danvers. “These extraordinary powers she has, he sees them as something of a blessing and something that she has to learn how to control,” Law says. “That’s a motif throughout the piece, the element of learning to control one’s emotions and to use your powers wisely.”
