Solo: A Star Wars Story may not have been as successful at the box office as Lucasfilm and Disney had hoped, but there were still some moments in the film that were incredibly memorable. For starters, it was great to finally see Han Solo and Chewbacca pull off the infamous Kessel Run. The history of Han is littered with stories, and Solo was able to deliver on many of them. It also included the moment Han wins the Millennium Falcon in a game of Sabacc from Lando Calrissian, and the way they made it pay off at the end is about as perfect as it gets.
The biggest surprise of the film may have been the moment Darth Maul is revealed to be the head of the Crimson Dawn Crime Syndicate. While fans of the Clone Wars animated series were well aware of his survival after the battle with Obi-Wan Kenobi in The Phantom Menace, many people had no idea. Learning of Ewan McGregorr’s reaction to the scene, considering he’s the man who portrayed Obi-Wan in Episode I, makes it all the better.
Ray Park, the actor who plays Darth Maul in the Star Wars franchise, recently revealed to The Star Wars Show how McGregor went to his character during the Solo premiere:
“I was scared and nervous. Because Ewan was seated right beside me. When you hear Maul speak for the first time, Ewan knew it was me. And he’s just like ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah! Well done!’ and I’m like ‘I want to see myself!’ But it was so nice for him to be like that with me. And to hear that reaction in the movie theater.”
