Evangeline Lilly Pegs Brie Larson To Lead Potential All-Female Avengers Film

Evangeline Lilly is the talent behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Wasp, with whom we were most recently acquainted with in Ant-Man and the Wasp earlier this summer. The movie definitely highlighted how cunning and formidable the Wasp is and proved how cool and calm she is under pressure. Even when she shrinks down to the size of an insect, she’s a force to be reckoned with, not to mention a key player that you’ll want to have on your team. She’d probably make a great Avenger, right?

Well, Evangeline Lilly is certainly open to the thought but thinks that it would be awesome to feature an all-female Avengers team in the MCU. The potential of a superhero film highlighting the amazing female heroes of Marvel is a great idea that was even pitched to Marvel Chief, Kevin Feige, by Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie) and others last October to which there was interest shown by both Feige and the Internet. So, at least we know that the seed has been planted which could potentially spin into something like an A-Force perhaps?

Speaking to CBR, Thompson said the following:

“I think in that group was Brie Larson, myself, Zoe Saldana, although she ran off to the bathroom, I think, so she came midway through the pitch but she had been in the rev-up to it. Scarlett Johansson. Pom [Klementieff] and Karen [Gillan], who are both in the Guardians movies. Yeah, I think it was that group. We were just sort of all in a semi-circle talking, and it just came up, because none of us really worked together – well, I suppose Zoe, and Karen, and Pom – and wouldn’t it be nice if we could all work together?

And we were sort of speculating on the ways in which it might happen in Infinity War, or might not happen,” she continued. “And we thought, ‘No, we should just have a whole movie where we know every day we’re going to arrive and get to work together.’ So we just ran right up to Kevin Feige and started talking about it.”

Sure, there would have to be some adaptations with the characters to make sense for the Marvel Cinematic Universe but how cool would it be to see The Wasp, Black Widow, Okoye, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel and others all on the same team? Evangeline Lilly thinks it would be pretty awesome and had this to say in an interview with Pop Buzz about who should lead the squad if and when the time arrives. “Well, it seems only natural Captain Marvel would lead because she is a general? And she’s the captain. And Captain America leads the other Avengers, right, so maybe Captain Marvel would lead. I’d think so,” she said.
