According to Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb, the 100th episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. “resets the table.” The series has been building throughout five seasons, readying viewers for the “The Real Deal.” Showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen promised audiences in an interview with TVLine that the latest entry would be an emotional game changer.
Actor Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson) teased what the latest episode would be about, saying, “It’s an episode where a lot of things that have been being built toward — some of them in ways you didn’t even really realize — really come to a head and pay off in ways that change things going forward. Some of those things have building for seasons, and some have been building since the pilot.”
As an added tearjerker (Spoilers Ahead), this 100th episode was when the characters Fitz and Simmons became man and wife and the onlooking Deke, alongside Deathlok, was revealed to be their grandson.
On top of that, there were plenty of other MCU-themed references that sprung up. Actress Elizabeth Henstridge had previously teased that there would be “so many, just gorgeous Easter eggs,” and the show delivered.
