We have already had some incredible films hit theaters this year based on characters from the pages of Marvel Comics. Back in February, Marvel Studios released Black Panther, and the Chadwick Boseman-led film was adored by both fans and critics alike. It would go on to break all kinds of records at the box office in the process. Then, in April, Avengers: Infinity War marked the culmination of 10 years and 18 previous films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and continues to dominate the box office.
In July, Marvel Studios is releasing Ant-Man and the Wasp. The sequel to 2015’s Ant-Man will take place before the events prior to Infinity War, and will likely show us why Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne weren’t present in the battle against Thanos. While Ant-Man and the Wasp isn’t expected to put up the kind of numbers that Black Panther and Infinity War did, there’s no doubt that fans are going to show up to the theaters to get their MCU fix.
In October, Sony is releasing the highly anticipated and Tom Hardy-led Venom. The Spider-Man spinoff has been garnering quite the buzz since its production was announced. Rumors of how or if it will be a part of the MCU are swirling, but there have been no confirmations either way. It may be a Sony film, but like Spider-Man: Homecoming, they may have made a deal with Marvel Studios. Only time will tell.
Up next, opening in theaters on next Friday on May 18th is Deadpool 2. We’re finally getting the sequel we’ve all been clamoring for. Wade Wilson is back and this time he’s bringing along Cable, Domino, and the rest of the X-Force. Some fans have already gotten the opportunity to see the film, and their reactions have us even more excited to see the movie ourselves!
So, #DEADPOOL2 is the perfect sequel. Doubles down on everything that fans love about the original, and fixes some of that film's issues. Huge, huge laughs that play the audience like a fiddle. @VancityReynolds destroys as Wade. Great action, fantastic comic nods. A killer ride! pic.twitter.com/KaM8gUT2Jf
