When news broke earlier this week that production was moving forward for a Jared Leto-led Joker film, the Internet began weighing in. It’s not a surprise that tongues started wagging, but it was a little shocking when Dave Bautista took it as an opportunity to have a little bit of fun, joking around on Twitter. After Bautista made the joke about Drax getting his own solo film, one man that could help make that happen responded to him…
But on the bright side! Which I usually try to look at… if this can happen then the chances of me getting a Drax movie have got to be astronomically high! Like so high that I’m going to stop tweeting and sit by the phone and wait for @MarvelStudios to call! ….any second now! https://t.co/hOt1I2OJxJ

Just tried calling.

The best part of this story is actually the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn shared thoughts on a film based on Drax last month on Twitter.
I think a Drax movie could be incredible. https://t.co/4mlA3NCjxu

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bautista spoke about Gunn’s comments and his thoughts on a Drax film…
“I didn’t realize he’d tweeted about it. We have talked about it quite a bit. I’m not going to hold my breath. I see where they would have trouble fitting it in. I don’t know if Marvel sees me or my character as that type of investment. But, yeah, I would be all up for it. I think [James] wanted it to really go to the Drax the Destroyer formula, where Drax has his violent tendencies. [Laughs] I think he wanted to lean… towards that a little bit, so they could tell the full story of Drax.”
