Kendrick Lamar is considered by many to be the greatest rapper of his generation. He has the uncanny ability to not only make songs that become radio hits, but to also make conscious and cohesive albums. There aren’t many artists in hip-hop that can put that feather in their cap.
Kendrick’s 2015 album, To Pimp A Butterfly, was a masterful piece of audio artwork that blended old sounds, like blues and jazz, with new sounds while highlighting social issues that many are afraid to touch.
The anticipation for the upcoming release of Marvel’s Black Panther is at an all-time high. Some of that has to do with Kendrick himself, as he teased he would have something to do with the soundtrack back in December.

Now we know what he meant. Marvel, Kendrick Lamar, and TDE Entertainment’s CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith are coming together to produce the film’s soundtrack. Black Panther’s director, Ryan Coogler is said to have hand-picked Kendrick for the project.
