In Deadpool #296, the Merc with a Mouth is finally giving Captain America his comeuppance from back during Marvel’s Secret Empire. Hyrda’s attempted takeover of the United States went by relatively quick, but even so, there were still some loose ends to tie up for Deadpool. In the Secret Empire arc, an evil Captain America that praises Hydra, orders Wade Wilson to assassinate the Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., Phil Coulson.
As a result of this morally bankrupt Captain America’s leadership, it cost Deadpool a lot more in the long run, and he’s out for revenge against the Sentinel of Liberty.
Wade Wilson isn’t the most sympathetic of characters, but having been a product of the Weapon X program and their intense torture, it’s hard not to feel a bit sorry for the crimson-clad hero.
Deadpool #296 saw Wilson searching for retribution for the troubles of his past and relying heavily on Captain America. Now that the original Steve Rogers is back in the Marvel Universe, things ought to have been okay, but not for Wilson. Fists flew, and Deadpool’s Twin Katanas clashed with Cap’s shield.
