‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Release Date Confirmed And It’s Sooner Than You Think

It seems that 2018 will bring us a full order of Marvel shows on Netflix. The first of the Defenders, Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, will be returning for a third season. This isn’t exactly news, as we’ve been hearing filming rumors for many months now, but all we have known is that the next season is coming…eventually, someday.

This year, as fans know, the next phase of the Marvel Netflix TV universe continued after the first team-up season of The Defenders, which premiered last August. We got another season of Jessica Jones in March, we got Luke Cage‘s second season in June, and we are only a few weeks away now from the September premiere of Iron Fist season two. It seemed like the first Defender was the last to be accounted for, having hardly any news since his appearance in The Defenders last year.

But that all ends today! The statement of the release of Daredevil season three has come straight from the top, and it’s good news.

In a Netflix Q2 earnings report video, the heads of Netflix spoke about the year’s ups and downs, plus their plans for the future of the Network in original and syndicated content. Eventually, the subject of the remaining 2018 show premieres came up and Netflix Chief of Content Ted Sarandos didn’t beat around the bush and gave us the answer we’ve all been waiting for:

“In the short term, we’ve got new seasons coming up, in the second half of this year, of Orange is the New Black, Ozark, Iron Fist, Daredevil, Narcos, the finale of House of Cards, the follow-up series to Making a Murderer…”

As fans of the Defenders probably know by now, the season ended with Matt Murdock sacrificing himself for his fellow Defenders, friends, and the rest of the city and had a tearful goodbye with his longtime love, Elektra. The rest of the cast mourned his death, but the end of the episode showed Murdock in a convent holding onto life.

All we know about the third season so far is that Murdock’s mother will be a new cast member in the show, played by Joanne Whalley. However, now it seems that we know that the next season will be premiering at some point this year instead of next year!

Recap on seasons 1 and 2 of Daredevil and The Defenders on Netflix now, and get ready for Iron Fist season 2 coming to Netflix on September 7th!
