As the giant cast of Avengers: Infinity War nears the end of their movie cycle, another cast is just beginning theirs. Filming is going full-speed ahead for Captain Marvel, one of the first of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 films. Everything is about to change for our heroes, the Avengers, but luckily, none of that will affect Captain Marvel, since it will serve as a type of prequel, set in the 90’s. In fact, we’ll get to see some familiar faces that are no longer on the current roster of heroes (and villains) in the MCU.
Alongside our titular hero, who is also known as Carol Danvers and is played by Brie Larson, we will be seeing Nick Fury, Agent Phil Coulson, and Ronan and Korath (of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1).
Clark Gregg, who plays Agent Coulson, will really be a site for sore eyes, since he was presumed dead in the MCU film universe since the Avengers in 2012. Apart from Nick Fury, Phil Coulson was one of the biggest reasons for the first assembling of the original Avengers roster, first appearing way back in 2010 in Iron Man 2.
After an unfavorable encounter with Loki and his Sceptre in the Avengers, everyone thought that the days of snide remarks from Coulson were over, until he got revived in the TV universe in Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D. TV is great, but it’s been too long since we’ve seen our old pal Coulson on the big screen. Although he didn’t exactly confirm that he’s going to be in the film, his Instagram picture speaks a thousand words.
Let the set photos (and the Nick Fury/Phil Coulson reunion) begin! Captain Marvel hits theaters in March 2019.
