While the film has been out for over a month now, we understand that there may be some people who have still yet to see Avengers: Infinity War. Because of that, we want to let those people know that there are spoilers ahead. Proceed with caution!
What was the moment that you knew Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, along with everyone fighting alongside them were doomed to fall at the hands of Thanos? We ask because that moment seems to be a little different for everyone who watched the film. With every step the Mad Titan took towards procuring each Infinity Stone, their chances kept dwindling, but as always, we held out hope that they would figure out a way to stop what would become inevitable if he acquired all six of the stones.
As Iron Man, Spider-Man, Star-Lord, Drax, Nebula, and Mantis attempted to put a plan together on Titan, Doctor Strange used the Time Stone to go into the future and find a way. Out of 14,000,605 different outcomes, Strange only saw one in which they would win, and the group went ahead with its plan when Thanos showed up to acquire the Time Stone that Ebony Maw was to bring him. The battle ensued and everything was in line for them to strip him of the Infinity Gauntlet until Peter Quill lost his cool. It was at this moment that most people believe they lost their chance at victory, and even though everyone seems to be placing the blame at the feet of Quill, Chris Pratt said it’s something he wouldn’t change.
With Pratt on a press tour for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Radio Times caught up with him and asked about the backlash he’s received for his characters actions. This is what he had to say…
“People seem to be upset with Star-Lord. Look – the guy watched his mother die, he watched as his father-figure died in his arms, he was forced to kill his own biological father. And now has suffered the loss of the love of his life. So I think he reacted in a way that’s very human, and I think the humanity of the Guardians of the Galaxy is what sets them apart from other superheroes. I think if we did it a hundred times I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Quill has been through a lot in the lead up to and during this film. Also, people who are simply blaming him may not be looking at the entirety of the battle. It’s highly possible that giving Thanos the Time Stone was part of the one way to victory. Sure, it looks bleak now, but we have a whole other movie to find out what happens in the end. We’re far from over, and who knows, Star-Lord may still be a key piece in the battle against the Mad Titan.
