The countdown has begun for Avengers 4, and audiences are understandably dying for answers about how all of the damage done by Thanos and the Infinity Gauntlet will be fixed after the end of Infinity War. Among the remaining heroes alive are Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor, to name a few.
As fans, we have to worry about our favorite characters who were turned to dust, like Black Panther, Spider-Man, and Groot, but we also have to worry about the living characters. The plot for Avengers 4 is still up in the air, but we can only assume a lot of major stuff will happen, especially considering all that went down in Infinity War, and that was only part one!
Chris Hemsworth recently spoke with Esquire about the next film and he essentially braced all of us for another roller coaster of a movie. Hemsworth’s time as Thor may be coming to an end after the next film, but that doesn’t mean that he won’t have a massive part in Avengers 4. After all, he was the only one who even came close to destroying Thanos in the first round. Hemsworth said the following about Avengers 4:
“If you were shocked by Infinity War, I think the second one is even more shocking, for other reasons entirely. That’s what kind of blew me away the first time I read both scripts, is how they managed to orchestrate so many different characters but give them each their own separate shot and moments, and have it be elevated and feel fresh and unique – not just like a messy, thrown-together assembly of these guys.”
The destruction of half of the Avengers is shocking enough, so it looks like the Russo Brothers will not spend the next film wrapping up the story in a nice bow. The action continues, maybe even more so for the remaining Avengers. It is for this reason that Hemsworth is most thrilled for fans to see what is to come.
This will be Thor’s seventh appearance in the MCU, and the same goes for many of the other characters like Black Widow and Tony Stark, so they better make it count after all this time. Hemsworth assured that this will be the case:
“The second one I’m probably even more excited about. Just for people to see. I just think it’s another step again. Each step we seem to take with these films, I’ve loved the fact that there’s been growth and evolution and it continues to surprise people as opposed to sort of flatlining, which was obviously always a fear—that they’d run out of ideas or run dry of creative excitement. For me, this whole experience has been incredible. In particular the last one.”
There has been speculation over the future of Thor’s character, because of the approaching completion of Hemsworth’s contract with Marvel Studios. It is unclear whether or not the end of Avengers 4 will create a cliffhanger for Thor to come back after, but either way, the God of Thunder will have his work cut out for him to try and save his friends.
Hemsworth had previously stated that he would return to the character of Thor if a “great script comes along,” and if his thoughts on Avengers 4 are any indication, a great script for Thor could be just around the corner! First thing’s first, let’s see how the battle with Thanos plays out. Avengers 4 comes to theaters on May 3, 2019.
