Stan Lee’s masterful creative abilities have spanned worldwide cultures for decades, so it comes as no surprise that he created his first ever Indian superhero character, Chakra the Invincible. Originally debuting on Cartoon Network India in 2013, Chakra will soon become the star of his own Bollywood movie. Yes, the film debut of the defender of Mumbai is currently in the works, thanks to an alliance between POW! Entertainment, Graphic India and film production company, Phantom Films. In this version, we see a visibly mature Chakra in his early 20s with plenty more C.H.A.K.R.A. suit experience.
This Is Chakra
The tale from the 2013 Cartoon Network India animated original film follows a young boy named Raju Rai, a scientifically-minded youth under the tutelage of his kooky old mentor, Dr. Singh.
He Is Stan Lee’s First Exclusive Bollywood Superhero
When Raju arrives at the lab one day, he witnesses an explosion followed by the ecstatic smile of his mentor, who had just finished an invention that would change the teen’s life forever. Dr. Singh called his new creation the Cybernetic Hyper-Acrobatic Kinetic Realignment Acceleration suit version 2.0 (or C.H.A.K.R.A. for short). This costume taps into the spiritual energy of all seven chakras and grants the user abilities such as force-fields, flying, energy beams, healing and more. Using his newfound powers, Raju vows to defends the streets of Mumbai, and the world from many frightening foes.
He’s Also The Star Of A Mobile App Game
The screenplay for the live-action theatrical release of Chakra is currently being worked on by the CEO of Liquid Comics, Sharad Devarajan, as well as Mumbai native film director, Vikramaditya Motwane. Production will be overseen by Madhu Mantena, Sharad Devarajan, and POW! Entertainment’s Gill Champion.
