Actress Brie Larson will be portraying Captain Marvel in the movie of the same name coming out March 6, 2019.
In the character’s career, she has assumed many superheroic identities such as Binary or Ms. Marvel. However, Carol Danvers was first a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, enlisting at the age of 18 to put herself through college.
Danvers’s missions would enable her to rub elbows with the likes of Nick Fury, Wolverine, and Ben Grimm (The Thing), eventually joining NASA as head of security, and retiring from the Air Force as a Colonel.
The production of the Captain Marvel film has already shown that it wants to pay particular respect to the origins of the character. Larson has recently posted a picture on Twitter of her training with the USAF.
