Captain Marvel Connection Made In New Venom Origin Comicbook Series

Starting in late August, Marvel is setting up a pretty awesome comicbook event that will place the symbiotes in a HUGE cosmic event like never before! Ever hear of the Kree and Skrull War? These two cosmic races have been mortal enemies forever and are connected to a lot of big happenings in the Marvel comicbook universe, as well as upcoming MCU films. In fact, if it weren’t for the Kree and Skrulls, we wouldn’t even have Captain Marvel!

Carol Danvers, AKA Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson in the solo film, is set to have her first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe next year, and we’ll be getting a full glimpse at her reinvented origin story. It is, however, confirmed that the Kree and Skrulls will play a dominant role in the film which is, at the very least, true to the original source material even if elements of the story are adapted for the movie. With that said, that does give Marvel an opening, in the context of Venom: First Host as potential canon with the main continuity of happenings, and if things do line up for Venom to cross over into the MCU in the not too distant future. Maybe the way to introduce Venom into the MCU involves a cosmic element that Captain Marvel is helping to bring into play?

Many of this is still yet to be seen, but there are two comicbook covers and synopses available for us to decipher, which do point out some interesting elements.  The “First Host” by the name of Tel-Kar bonded with the Venom Symbiote a very long time ago and appears to have come to Earth in search of the companion that helped in the Kree and Skrull War.

The description for Venom: First Host #1 according to Marvel’s Digital Comics Shop reads:

“MIKE COSTA AND MARK BAGLEY REUNITE FOR A VENOM STORY UNLIKE ANY OTHER! Before the AMAZING SPIDER-MAN…before VENOM… There was the FIRST HOST. And that First Host has returned in need of Venom’s help – only by reuniting can the two avert cosmic ruin! Can Eddie and the symbiote trust one another long enough to save the galaxy, or will the FIRST HOST prove to be Venom’s undoing?!”

The synopsis for Venom: First Host #2 reads:

“The mystery of VENOM’S first host continues to unfold as EDDIE and the VENOM are ambushed by a Skrull only to be saved by an unlikely ally, a Kree soldier named TEL-KAR! But why are these two following Eddie? And why did TEL-KAR call it HIS symbiote?”

We’ll have to wait until the end of August to get the full scoop on Venom: First Host, but it’s possible that we might see some more Captain Marvel cross-pollination going on when the time arrives.
